Terrace Green Hotel’s Salt vegetarian options share deep roots with Ayurveda

Ayurveda and a vegetarian diet share deep roots with the Ayurveda philosophy of balance, purity, and holistic well-being.

In Terrace Green Hotel’s Salt restaurant, our vegetarian options are not merely nourishment, but food that sustains the body, mind, and spirit.

A vegetarian diet, rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds, aligns perfectly with Ayurvedic principles of sattva—the quality of clarity, harmony, and vitality.

Such foods are considered sattvic, promoting calmness, mental clarity, and spiritual growth, while avoiding the heaviness and toxicity (tamas) associated with meat and processed foods.

Doshas

Ayurveda teaches that different body types, or doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—benefit from specific dietary choices, and vegetarian foods offer the flexibility to balance these energies naturally.

For example, cooling vegetables and sweet fruits pacify Pitta, while grounding grains and warm soups calm Vata. Moreover, a plant-based diet supports good digestion (agni), detoxification, and longevity by being lighter and easier for the body to process.

Beyond the physical, Ayurveda emphasizes the energetic and ethical aspects of food. Eating a vegetarian diet prepared with mindfulness and compassion enhances prana, or life force.

This fosters a deep sense of inner peace and harmony with nature, which is key to true health and wellness in the Ayurvedic tradition.
