Terrace Green Hotel and Spa offers discounts to guests stranded by Iran war!
Terrace Green Hotel and Spa is pleased to offer special discounts to all our guests who through no fault of their own are stranded in Sri Lanka because of the Iran war.
Says a TGH spokesperson: “It’s the least we can do! No-one expected a war to break out before they left Sri Lanka, so we are very happy to help out.
‘And depending on how long before they will be able to leave, we will also be pleased to arrange day trips and experiences to help pass the time.’

Hotels in Negombo and near the airport are reportedly currently at high occupancy, mainly due to departing passengers being unable to leave rather than new arrivals.
As of March 8 there were altogether about 10,000+ tourists stranded throughout Sri Lanka who were unable to fly home due to canceled connections.
Free visa extensions
The government has acted swiftly by authorising free 14-day visa extensions for any tourist currently in the country affected by flight disruptions.
And the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has issued a ‘Safety Framework’ for all registered hotels and guides.
The following telephone hotlines are fully operational:
1912: The primary Tourist Emergency Hotline (available 24/7).
1994: For real-time updates on flight status and airport facilities.
1979: Dedicated line for SriLankan Airlines rebooking.
Inbound ‘bottleneck crisis’
Meanwhile, the conflict has also created an inbound ‘bottleneck crisis’ for Sri Lanka tourism due to the closure of airspace and flight cancellations across the Middle East.
Normally, 30–40% of all arrivals, especially high-spending Europeans, transit through Gulf hubs such as Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi.
Silver lining?
The Colombo Telegraph reports that ‘crisis brings opportunity’, in this case for Sri Lanka ‘to reposition itself strategically to weather the storm’.
‘First, by diversifying its source markets: increasing outreach to South Asian and Southeast Asian travelers who are less influenced by Western security narratives.
‘Second, by reinforcing its image as a peaceful, affordable, and geopolitically neutral destination—an island that offers rich culture, healing nature, and authentic experiences, far removed from global conflict zones.’
